Terms of Use
Last updated 29 August 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Jesse Abruzzo ("Kist", "we", "us"), covering your use of the Kist app and service. By creating an account or using Kist, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Kist.
What Kist is
Kist is a personal net-worth and spending tracker. You link financial accounts (through Plaid) and Kist shows you your balances, net worth, spending, recurring charges, and a guided "campaign" to help you stay on top of your money. Access to your linked accounts is read-only: Kist cannot move money, make payments, or change anything at your bank.
Not financial advice
Kist is an informational tool, not a financial, investment, tax, or legal adviser. Balances, categories, and insights are generated automatically from data provided by your institutions through Plaid and may be incomplete, delayed, or wrong. You are responsible for your own financial decisions. Always verify important figures with your bank or a qualified professional.
Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract.
- You are responsible for keeping your login and device secure, and for all activity under your account.
- Provide accurate information and keep it current.
Bank connections and Plaid
Kist uses Plaid to connect to financial institutions. You authorise each connection and authenticate directly with your bank through Plaid; your bank credentials never reach Kist. Your use of Plaid is also governed by Plaid's own end-user policies.
Subscriptions, billing, and auto-renewal
- Kist offers a free tier and paid subscriptions (Plus and Pro), plus optional add-ons. Prices and what each plan includes are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency where the store provides it.
- Paid plans are auto-renewing subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings — not inside Kist. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- Any free trial converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel beforehand. Unused trial time is forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Payments, refunds, and renewals are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. Refund requests are subject to the store's policies.
- If a subscription lapses, Kist keeps your history but disconnects your linked banks so you are not billed by our data provider; you can reconnect after resubscribing.
Acceptable use
Don't misuse Kist. In particular, do not: access accounts or data that are not yours; attempt to breach, probe, or disrupt the service; reverse-engineer or resell it; or use it for anything unlawful.
Your data and deletion
How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy. You can delete your account and its data at any time from within the app (Settings); deletion also disconnects your bank connections at the provider.
Disclaimers
Kist is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of data. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that figures shown will be accurate or complete.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kist and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or money, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.
Termination
You may stop using Kist and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or use the service in a way that risks harm to others or to the service.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the app changes or the law requires. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "last updated" date, and where appropriate we will notify you in the app. Continuing to use Kist after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
